When my oldest son left on his mission, I knew I wanted a tangible way to document his memories. I searched and searched, but could never find exactly what I was searching for- a memory book, specifically for LDS missionaries that could be custom-made, just for my son. Finally, I decided I would make my own. As a mom, it was important to me that the album be made to last. Quality was my first specification. It was also important that the book reflect exactly what he was doing for those two important years: serving. “Called to Serve,” would have to be displayed on the cover. I also wanted a custom plate, describing exactly where he was, as each mission call and area is so meaningful and individual to a missionary.
Lastly, I remembered something my son’s mission president stressed- to keep his tag in a place where he could see it often- and I knew the tag had to be displayed on the cover.
My son returned from his mission with countless mementos- pictures, baptism programs, and several other things. I knew a memory book was the perfect place to keep everything together- and something that could be flipped through and enjoyed by generations. The binders were created to be used as a companion to the memory books- a perfect place for those weekly emails and letters. The two coordinate perfectly.
I truly hope all who purchase these special books will enjoy them just as much as we do and love them for years to come!
